The Community Services Bureau (CSB) was established to serve as a resource for residents by providing educational information regarding criminal awareness, crime prevention, and how to strengthen the relationship with the community we serve.

The CSB staff works closely with faith-based organizations, local community groups, and businesses to build partnerships that will enhance and improve neighborhood safety. Police Chief Larry V. Gonzalez has tasked CSB with the responsibility of enhancing and implementing the Department’s youth and community-based programs.

The Department youth programs are designed to educate college and high school students in leadership skills and self-awareness, and to develop law-abiding residents who care and respect the community. In addition, CSB educates the public through various outreach programs, social platforms, and community events, all in an effort to create a better Riverside.

Personnel in the CSB coordinate the Police Department’s community programs including the Citizen's/Teen Academy, Crime Free Multi-Housing, Police Explorer Program 714, Neighborhood and Business Watch, Opportunity With Education (OWE), Teen 2 Teen, the Volunteer Unit, You Are Not Alone (YANA), and Youth Court. In addition, the CSB is tasked with assisting with the Riverside Police Foundation.

The CSB also coordinates and tracks all community programs, facilitates media events, and assists staff in other divisions with community outreach.
