:: Canyon Crest Neighborhood

NeighborhoodsCanyon Crest has its roots in the citrus industry. In 1907, the Monte Vista Nursery was established in the area, which includes the Canyon Crest Town Center. This nursery, which specialized in citrus stock, ultimately covered an area of 200 acres.

Canyon Crest is one of the largest and most diverse neighborhoods of Riverside. Its diversity is found both in its topography and in its diversity of residents. The land under Canyon Crest was pieced together from six separate annexations, all of which occurred between 1959 and 1986. Most of the development in the neighborhood reflects modern subdivision design and nearly all the land is developed for low-density residential uses. The hilly terrain has shaped development and creates some beautiful views of the surrounding area. The Canyon Crest Town Center is the economic focus for the area and caters to the large student population in the nearby apartments.

This neighborhood encircles the northern half of Sycamore Canyon Park and borders on the Box Spring Mountains. These natural features, along with the Tequesquite Arroyo, offer excellent open spaces for outdoor recreation as well as some beautiful views.
