Bicycle Parking & Facilities

In California, bicycle parking facilities are classified as either Class I or Class II facilities.

  • Class I Bicycle Parking are long term facilities that have lockers or bicycle cages that can be locked by the cyclist. These facilities are used mainly by students, employees, residents, and others expected to park for more than two hours.
  • Class II Bicycle Parking are short term facilities that include bicycle racks. Cyclists provide their own racks to secure bicycles and these facilities are used mainly by shoppers, visitors, messengers, and others expected to depart within two hours.

The City of Riverside has installed bicycle racks in visible, user friendly locations at some of our facilities including City Hall; Parking Garages 1, 2 and 3; and the Police Station on Orange Street. Bicycle lockers located at City Hall are available for rent.
