The Story We Tell

 

Have you engaged in a City of Riverside Parks and Recreation youth sports program, savored a round of golf at Fairmount Golf Course, or enjoyed a delightful afternoon with your family in the park? If you have, we invite you to narrate your Riverside parks experience through the lens of your camera. Unleash your storytelling talent by submitting a captivating photo along with a heartfelt testimonial to the “Story We Tell” Photo Contest. The winning entries will be showcased in the PRCSD Activity Guide, on various social media platforms, and during department presentations. Let your photos tell the tale of your connection and affection for Riverside's parks and facilities, while becoming a part of the vibrant narrative that celebrates the community's shared love for these cherished spaces.

 

Prizes

We will have 3 cash prize winners for the contest with the following amounts:

Contest prizes awarded on a trimester basis based and will correspond with the following dates:

  • • Summer 2024 Submissions will be accepted from April 13, 2024 - August 15, 2024 (11:59: p.m. PST). Awardee will be announced by August 31, 2024.

  • • Fall/Winter 2024 submissions will be accepted from August 16, 2024 - December 31, 2024 (11:59: p.m. PST). Awardee will be announced by January 15, 2025.

  • • Spring 2025 submissions will be accepted from August 16,2025 - December 31, 2025 (11:59: p.m. PST). Awardee will be announced by January 15, 2025.

The City of Riverside Park and Recreation Commission meets the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers (3900 Main St.). The public is welcome to attend. Anyone interested in serving on the City of Riverside Park and Recreation Commission should contact the City Clerk’s Office at 951.826.5557.

Videos/Photo Policy

Kindly note that individuals participating in any department programs or special events may be photographed or videotaped. The City of Riverside reserves the right to utilize these photographs or videos without an obligation to offer compensation to the individuals captured by or in them.

Participant Code of Conduct

All participants are expected to uphold appropriate conduct throughout their involvement in the photo contest, whether actively participating, spectating, or attending any associated programs or activities organized or endorsed by the City of Riverside Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department. The following guidelines are established to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants:

  • • Show respect towards fellow participants and program staff.
  • • Adhere to directions provided by program staff and supervisors.
  • • Avoid using abusive or offensive language.
  • • Prevent causing harm to oneself, fellow participants, or program staff/supervisors.
  • • Avoid damaging equipment, supplies, and facilities.
  • • Refrain from any form of harassment towards staff, instructors, or fellow participants.

All participants are expected to reflect these core values in their words and conduct toward members of marginalized communities, including (but not limited to) the LGBTQ+ and special needs communities. All participants shall have the opportunity to participate in a healthy, supervised, safe and controlled environment.

Failure to adhere to these guidelines may lead to the denial of privileges related to participating in the photo contest. The City of Riverside Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department is dedicated to making your involvement in the contest enjoyable, rewarding, educational, and, above all, safe.
