MAJOR INJURY TRAFFIC Collision

RIVERSIDE, CA – On Thursday, November 16, 2017, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Riverside Police and Fire Personnel responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a marked Riverside Police Department patrol vehicle on Van Buren Boulevard west of Wood Road, in the city of Riverside.  The patrol vehicle was driving east on Van Buren Blvd. approaching Wood Rd. when a 25-year-old male resident of Riverside stepped off the center divider and into the path of the police vehicle.  The pedestrian was struck and the police vehicle immediately stopped.   The pedestrian was transported to Riverside Community Hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. 

The Riverside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded and is currently investigating. 

Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a tan mini-van which was seen traveling near the police vehicle at the time of this collision.  If you are aware of this vehicle and/or driver, please contact Riverside Police Traffic Detective Brian Jones at (951) 826-8722 or email [email protected].
