introducing riverside arts academy/harmony project riverside music director!

RIVERSIDE, CA –

Conducting all around the world, maestro Gene Moon has graced the podium of orchestras on four continents over the course of his career. Beginning the fall of 2018, Moon joined the faculty of California Baptist University serving as Director of Orchestral Studies. His recent posts have included Director of Orchestral Activities at Stephen F. Austin State University (Nacogdoches, TX), Artistic Director of the East Texas Youth Orchestras (Tyler, TX) and Music Director and Conductor of the Longview Symphony Orchestra (Longview, TX).

Known both nationally and internationally for his expressive musicianship and skilled conducting, maestro Moon has conducted performances with orchestras including Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín, Gangnam Symphony Orchestra, the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, Arkansas and Louisiana All State orchestras and the orchestras of the University of Macau and Hong Kong Baptist University.

Along with his professional conducting, Dr. Moon is also highly sought after as a guest conductor and clinician for regional honor orchestras and music festivals throughout the United States and abroad. His work with elementary, middle and high school age students has been heralded as outstanding and ground-breaking by community and professionals. Through his efforts, organizations such as the East Texas Youth Orchestra in Tyler, TX grew from 17 to nearly 140 students in membership over the course of four years. No stranger to grassroots efforts, Dr. Moon began after school string programs throughout the East Texas region to bring instrument education to schools which did not have such programs. Dr. Moon holds music degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma, New York University and his DMA in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Oklahoma.

At the Collinsworth School, Dr. Moon currently serves as music director and conductor of the CBU Symphony Orchestra, directs the graduate program in Instrumental Conducting and provides leadership for the students in all areas of orchestral arts.

In addition to his distinction as a musician and conductor, Dr. Moon is also a charismatic and inspirational music educator who finds his greatest passion in challenging the next generation of musicians to the highest standards of artistic excellence and preparing them for career success and global impact.
