Chief Gonzalez and Mayor Lock Dawson Recognize Riverside's NAACP Youth Council

Published: 02/24/2022

At this week's City Council meeting, Riverside Police Chief Larry Gonzalez and City of Riverside Mayor Lock Dawson presented the Riverside Branch of the NAACP with a plaque to express our gratitude and long-standing partnership with the “Breaking Bread Together” webinar series.

Last year, we collaborated with the Riverside County NAACP Youth Council for a series of conversations entitled “Breaking Bread Together.” Due to COVID-19, the first two events were virtual webinars but the third and final one was an in-person discussion luncheon at our Magnolia Avenue police station. The entire series culminated with a community basketball game and resource fair at Bordwell Park in late July.

This was a very successful dialogue series and game that not only strengthened our relationship with the NAACP but helped build up even better relationships with our local communities and youth.
