Arrest Made in Chase Bank Homicide Investigation

ARREST MADE IN HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
RIVERSIDE, CA – On Saturday, December 2, 2017, a suspect in the homicide that occurred at the Chase Bank parking lot on September 1, 2017, in the 10300 block of Magnolia Avenue in Riverside, was extradited from Nevada and booked into the Riverside County Jail. Erian Jacob Brown, 20-years-old of Yucaipa, was arrested on counts of murder and attempted carjacking.
Early morning on Friday, September 1st, at 4:28 a.m., the Riverside Police and Fire Dispatch Center received calls of a shooting that just occurred in the parking lot of the Chase Bank. When officers and paramedics arrived, they found a gray 4-door sedan still running and backed up against a tree with a male subject inside. Officers broke a rear window to gain access to the victim who sustained gunshot wounds to his upper body. Daniel Dean, a 27-year-old man who was newly engaged with a 2-year-old daughter, was pronounced deceased by the Riverside Fire Department at the scene.
Detectives with the Robbery-Homicide Unit have been diligently working this investigation from the beginning. With the assistance of the California Department of Justice Special Operations Unit and other units within the Riverside Police Department, a suspect was identified. An arrest warrant was later obtained with the assistance of the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect was located and arrested in the city of North Las Vegas, Nevada by a FBI Fugitive Task Force.
Erian Brown was extradited back to California and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. He is currently being held without bail.
