    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

Update #1- Investigators were able to work with RPD and church staff to view on-site camera footage.  A possible suspect was identified, and a description was passed on to RPD.  At the conclusion of the incident, Engine 3 left the scene to travel back to the station.  On their way, they located the suspect in question walking along Magnolia, near Elizabeth.  RPD was requested and the individual was taken into custody.  It is believed the suspect is also responsible for a second fire at 6919 Magnolia.  Fire investigators are working closely with RPD to gather all information and evidence.

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the fellowship Baptist church in the 3600 block of Arlington Avenue.  The first arriving engine reported smoke coming from a side door.   Fire attack was initiated and the fire was quickly placed under control.  Upon investigation, a secondary fire was located at an exterior wall, unrelated to the first fire.  Both fires were extinguished and fire investigators were requested.  The church sustained minor fire and smoke damage.  Investigators are currently working with Riverside Police to determined the cause.  Church staff is on scene.
