    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire in the Hole Lake area, off Doolittle St.  The first arriving engine company reported a large spot fire in heavy fuels.  3 Engines, 1 Brush Engine, and a Battalion Chief responded.  Crews were able to slow the forward progress by establishing a hose lay on at the perimeter of the fire.  The fire required extensive overhaul due to the thick mixture of bamboo, brush, and palm trees.  There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.  The area is heavily trafficked by homeless, and the cause is likely human related.
