Streets

  • Streets
We keep city streets clean and in good repair. We fix sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and we control weeds and mosquitoes, maintain traffic signs, and control street flooding.
  • Graffiti Removal
One of the ways we help keep Riverside beautiful is by quickly removing graffiti throughout the city.  Calls come in to the 311 Call Center(dial 311) daily for graffiti complaints and Public Works dispatches crews to quickly eliminate the blight.

Trees & Landscaping

  • Trees
Public Works oversees some 100,000 street trees and another 30,000+ trees in parks and open space areas and is responsible for maintaining the city's trees.
  • Landscaping
City landscape inspectors monitor parkways and medians and manage landscape contracts and new construction projects.

Trash & Recycling

  • Curbside Trash Services
Garbage, green waste and recyclables with regularly scheduled special services for household hazardous waste and bulky items.
  • C.U.R.E. & Recycling
CUREC.U.R.E. focuses the value of having a clean city, raising consciousness of litter habits, and improving overall community pride and involvement. The city hosts periodic special collection events for items like refrigerators, appliances, televisions, and tires.

Traffic & Parking

  • Public WorksTraffic Management
From its command center at City Hall, the Traffic Division is able to monitor traffic throughout the city and change traffic light timing to improve flow.
  • Parking

Clean Air

  • Model Clean Air City
Riverside City Council approved strategic actions and formed and advisory committee to use state funds for air quality improvement projects.

Sewers and Storm Drains

  • Wastewater Management
Wastewater comes from household and commercial sewer systems and is treated before it is discharged to minimize the amount of pollution that flows to the Santa Ana River.
  • Stormwater Management
The city's storm drain system, separate from the sewer system, collects and channels stormwater and any other surface level run-off such as irrigation along with other materials like surface trash that can get into the storm drain system.

Engineering

  • Provides engineering survey.
