What
is the Housing and Neighborhoods Division?
The neighborhood organizing component of the Housing and
Neighborhoods Division was created by the City of Riverside
in 2001 to increase and improve communication between the
City and its neighborhoods. The
office encourages citizen participation through neighborhood organizing.
In 2006 the Housing and Community Development Division was merged
with the Office of Neighborhoods becoming the Housing and
Neighborhoods Division. In addition to community organizing
the Division also focuses on community development through Federal

Opportunities for People With Aids (HOPWA), Emergency Shelter Grants

What
is a Neighborhood Organization?
It's a group of neighbors who organize, formally or informally, to help
improve the quality of life in their neighborhood.
What
does a Neighborhood Organization do?
There is power in numbers! Your neighborhood's unified voice at
City Hall will not only work to get needed city services like street
lights, traffic control and graffiti removal but also help City Hall
better understand and focus on your neighborhood's unique concerns.
Neighborhood organizations pull residents together to prevent crime,
reduce blight, and tackle issues that threaten neighborhood stability. They
also take on beautification projects and help you meet your neighbors. You
will make friends and have fun in the process.
