Riverside Mariachi Festival Tickets on Sale Now!

On Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 3 – 9 p.m. the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCSD) will host the 5th Annual Mariachi Festival at Fairmount Park (2601 Fairmount Blvd.)

Along with the nationally known mariachis such as Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, ballet folklorico performances will entertain you with their colorful attire and amazing dance steps throughout the day. Family Fishing Derby

The City of Riverside, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Wildlands Conservancy are proud to present the 8th Annual Family Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 19 at Fairmount Park located at 2601 Fairmount Blvd. from 6 - 10 a.m. This FREE event includes a cash prize (must catch tagged fish), additional prizes and more. Operation Splash

The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (PRCSD) is teaming up with Kaiser Permanente to help deserving residents stay cool and fit during the hot summer months. Scholarships are available for many of the aquatics programs this year thanks to a generous grant from the Kaiser Foundation. PRCSD and Kaiser will sponsor qualifying low-income individuals in Riverside communities. If you are interested in applying, please download the application at www.riversideca.gov/park_rec. You can also stop by one of our community centers to pick up a scholarship application. Completed applications must be received at least 20 days prior to the scheduled activities. Applicants will be notified by mail/email once their scholarship has been approved.

USTA Tennis Block Party Saturday, May 1

We’re throwing a swinging bash in your neighborhood and causin’ a racquet! On Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Andulka Park Tennis Center located at 5051 Chicago Ave. USTA will be providing FREE tennis activities for all ages and playing abilities. Activities include Cardio Tennis, Drills and Games, Beat the Pro, Tennis Racquet Demonstration, and Ball Machine Practice. The first 200 people to register receive a free USTA t-shirt. Riverside Sings!

Riverside Sings! 3rd Annual Vocal Competition

The City of Riverside Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is holding open auditions for the 3rd Annual Riverside Sings Vocal Competition. Auditions will be held on Monday, May 24 for youth ages 5 – 17 and Tuesday, May 25 for adults 18 and older. Auditions will be held at the Cesar Chavez Community Center located at 2060 University Ave. Early bird registration will be accepted until May 21 for $15 per person and $20 thereafter. The top 14 in each age category (youth and adult) will perform and be judged at the Rhythm of Riverside Summer Concert Series.

The Rhythm of Riverside Summer Concert Series is held every Wednesday, June 23 – August 11 from 6 – 9 p.m. at Fairmount Park. The winners will receive cash and prizes valued over $1,000!
