Teen Academy


Teen Academy participants are selected through an application process that includes a limited background check. Candidates for the Riverside Police Department Citizen Academy must meet the following criteria:

  • Live or go to school within the City of Riverside
  • No felony convictions
  • No misdemeanor convictions involving violence or moral turpitude
  • No outstanding arrest warrants
  • No pending criminal charges
  • No prior termination from any police program
  • Must be honest and truthful on the application
  • Must sign a waiver for personal injury form
  • Must be able to stand for 3 hours and lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to commit to an 8 week program that involves meeting for three hours per session one night per week
  • Minimum age of 14-17 years old

Class size is limited to 40 students. All qualified applicants will be retained and considered for future classes. Attendance in a minimum of 8 classes is required for graduation.
