Did You Know? One gallon of motor oil has the potential to contaminate one million gallons of water, and it is a major cause of polluted waterways and drinking water.

Dispose of Used Oil Properly
Drain the oil into a clear plastic container that holds no more than five gallons. Free containers are available at the City's regularly scheduled CURE events.

When disposing of used oil, never dump in storm drains or gutters, these drains lead straight to the ocean. Do not dispose of oil on the ground or in any trash or recycling barrels.  Ensure that oil does not mix with water, automobile fluids, or any other substance, doing so makes recycling very difficult. Never abandon oil outside of recycling centers after business hours, or abandon oil in alleys or vacant lots.

Recycling used motor oil is more convenient than ever. There are numerous certified collection centers in the City of Riverside that are identified by the blue drop logo. They accept used oil for FREE. To find the nearest certified collection center call 1-800-CLEANUP or see the list below.

Curbside Oil Collection Services

As part of the City of Riverside's C.U.R.E. program, curbside oil collection services are available for residents. The following may be scheduled for a pick up by calling 1-800-698-4377:

• Used motor oil (up to 5 gallons)
• Oil filters, bagged only (up to 10 filters)
• Oily rags (small bundles)
