The City of Riverside is debuting a new public art installation titled Mariposa Alley. This exciting new piece brings to life a beautiful butterfly-filled landscape, located between 9th and 10th Street by the Courthouse. The artist behind the design is Riverside local Martin Sanchez, who is also known as the owner of the beloved Tio’s Tacos in Downtown Riverside.

The installation is part of a plan that aims to enhance the quality of life of Riverside residents. Funding for this project was provided by the Western Riverside Council of Governments through the Beyond Framework Fund, a program created to provide local assistance funding to help its member agencies develop and implement plans that benefit residents in Western Riverside County.

Over the next year, Mariposa Alley will serve as the backdrop for several programs and events in Riverside, including the 5th Annual Insect Fair on April 27th, 2019.
