Mayor's Office

About

Love Your Neighbor

Outreach staff in the Office of the Mayor devote much of their time to interacting with residents to hear their concerns and ideas. One topic that comes up often in these interactions is homelessness.

In partnership with city staff, we are committed to finding long-term housing solutions while providing job training, social services and other paths to stability for our neighbors without homes. The City of Riverside’s Office of Homeless Solutions is leading this effort, and has asked the Office of the Mayor to provide support by forging relationships with businesses, non-profits and faith-based organizations and engaging the entire community to help our neighbors in need. The Office of the Mayor has responded by creating the Love Your Neighbor Campaign.

Innovation District

In my 2016 State of the City Address, I pitched the idea of an Innovation District in Riverside. In December of 2017, City Council conceptually approved of an Innovation District in Riverside. The goal of the Innovation District is to spark innovation, spur economic development, inspire investment, provide quality jobs, and enhance the quality of life in the City of Riverside. Innovation District is a policy initiative that has been successful in cities across the nation, and the Office of the Mayor is dedicated to helping identify how to replicate those benefits here.
