You may be aware that the City of Riverside is moving to streamline its approach to serving our neighbors without homes. A key piece of this effort is to increase collaboration between the City, its churches, synagogues, temples, and non-profit organizations. To accomplish this, the City needs a stronger understanding of the resources currently being offered in our community.
The Office of the Mayor is working closely with social work, psychology, and other social science students from La Sierra University, California Baptist University, and Loma Linda University to collect information on services, resources, and ministries available to those that are struggling to support themselves, including our homeless neighbors. A student from one of these universities will be contacting you in the near future to discuss your church’s current and ongoing efforts.
I would appreciate anything you can do to assist these students in their data collection efforts. Following the survey, I will be personally reaching out to all participants to share results, share training opportunities, and increase collaboration.
In the meantime, should you have any questions regarding these efforts, please feel free to reach out to my Chief of Staff, Dr. Cheryl-Marie Hansberger. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 951-826-5551.
William R. “Rusty” Bailey, III
