About the Library
The Main Library, located in Main Riverside next to the Mission Inn, houses one of the largest collections in Southern California. Its newly renovated auditorium is the focal point for many cultural arts programs.
The Riverside Public Library officially opened its doors on June 1,1889 on Eighth Street (now University Avenue). In 1903, the library was moved to its current site, housed in a beautiful Andrew Carnegie library building. Read more about the library's history.

Internet Services
This location offers library customers up to 2 hours of computer use per day. Unlimited WiFi is available for laptop & mobile devices. Chromebooks are available at this library. The library provides the ability to print from the public computers via SAM (Smart Access Manager). You may maintain up to a $20.00 balance on your SAM account. Black and white printing is $0.10 per page. Color printing is $0.25 per page.
Special Programs
Gluck Fellows Program. Past events have included performances by opera singers Susan Roe and Marcela Pan, storyteller Karen Wilson. Check our calendar for upcoming events.
We also host author events. Past events have included Susan Straight, Gayle Brandeis, Andrew Winer, Juan Delgado, Cecilia Woloch, Michael Jaime-Becerra, Cristina Garcia, and other local authors.
The Main Library offers Inlandia at the Library during the Riverside Community Arts Association's Art Walk, which is held the first Thursday of each month.
