Subject: Bystanders Rescue Injured Driver from Solo Vehicle Traffic Collision with Fire

On November 7th, 2016 at 1:03 p.m. the City of Riverside Fire Department and American Medical Response (AMR) were dispatched to a report of a solo vehicle traffic collision into a palm tree at Alessandro Blvd. X Mission Grove Parkway with reports of the driver trapped with the vehicle on fire. Three to four bystanders assisted the driver from the vehicle which had an engine compartment fire prior to the fire department?s arrival. Quick actions by the bystanders prevented further injury to the patient. The fire from the vehicle extended to a palm tree with vegetation on fire threatening seven additional palm trees at the Western Municipal Water District water efficiency garden at 450 E. Alessandro. The patient was transported by AMR to a local area hospital. It is unknown on the cause of the accident. A total of 11 firefighters brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival. There were no firefighter injuries.
