    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

On June 16th, 2021 at 6:22 P.M., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 7600 block of Wells Ave.  Upon arrival, fire crews discovered a one-story residential structure fire with heavy smoke coming from the attic.  Fire crews made an aggressive attack on the fire and confirmed the fire was contained to the attic space.  The fire was placed under control at 6:41 P.M.

A total of 17 firefighters were on scene.  The interior of the structure sustained extensive damage due to smoldering blown insulation.  Fire crews were diligent with salvage operations and moved the resident’s belongings to a safe area.  Crews completed a primary search and confirmed all occupants had evacuated prior to our arrival.  There were not any civilian or firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire was investigated and determined to be unintentional and due to faulty electrical wiring in the attic space.  The estimated loss as a result of the fire was $100,000 and the save estimated at $365,000.
