The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a possible vegetation fire at Challen Park. Upon arrival there was a 20 X20 fire burning in annual seasonal grasses with a light to moderate rate of spread. The crews deployed their hose lines and were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes. The cause of the fire was a shopping cart full of paper that was lite by an unknown person. The fire grew to approximately .25 acre. All crews picked up their equipment and cleared the call.

Part of the fencing at the park sustained some damage due to the heat of the fire.

There were no injuries during this incident.
