    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle collision on the southbound lanes of the Interstate 215 freeway north of the University Avenue off-ramp. Riverside Firefighters found a 2-vehicle collision in which a mid-sized sedan traveling at a high rate of speed collided with a motor home in the number 3 lane of the freeway. The impact trapped the male driver in his vehicle which was partially pinned under the motorhome. A truck company and Battalion Chief were requested to the scene to assist with removing the patient from the vehicle. Riverside firefighters worked to cut away the roof and dash of the vehicle to reach the patient. The male patient of unknown age died at the scene. The occupants of the motorhome were not injured in the collision. The California Highway patrol is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the collision.
