    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

On Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 3:34 p.m., The City of Riverside Fire Department responded a first alarm vegetation fire response to the 5600 Block of Old Ranch for reports of smoke smoldering from the River Bottom Incident that occurred on February 8, 2020.  Upon additional calls received from reporting parties of a large fire growing in the river bottom, the alarm was immediately upgraded to a second alarm due to the Santa Ana Winds.  Firefighters arrived on scene to discover a large spot of vegetation burning adjacent to the bike path and Solar Farm (Old Dump) in the Tequesquite Park extension.  This was a new fire start and not related to the previous two river bottom fires.  Firefighters contained the fire to less than a ¼ acre.  The fire origin was 20’ off of the bike path.  There were no signs of a homeless encampment.  There were no witnesses.  After a preliminary fire investigation, the probable cause is a human start to the fire.  There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.  A total of 21 firefighters and one chief officer responded.
