    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the Rockledge Gardens Apartments in the 3000 block of Panorama Road. The first due squad reported moderate smoke coming from the attic of a single-story multi-family apartment. Riverside City Firefighters used ladders to make access to a fire burning in a large peaked roof built over the middle of the apartment. Bystanders had used a garden hose to fight the fire from the exterior and had managed to knock down much of the fire. Riverside City Firefighters used salvage covers and salvage vacuums to remove water from 2 of the 4 units. Extensive damage to electrical wires in the building forced the displacement of 6 adults, 7 children, and a cat. Red Cross was contacted to find shelter for 2 adults and 2 children that did not have alternative housing. The cause of the fire was electrical in nature, but the incident remains under investigation. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the incident.
