The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a possible vegetation fire on Mt. Rubidoux. Upon arrival there was about a quarter acre of vegetation burning in medium fuels on the western (Rubidoux) side. The fire ran up the hill toward the walking trail under the cross. Units initiated progressive hose lays to mitigate the incident.

    A Third Alarm was established.

RPD was requested to evacuate the walking trail on Mt Rubidoux.

A safety officer and PIO were assigned.

The fire pushed to 1.5 acres.

Once the forward spread was stopped the fire was contained and mopped up.

The investigation revealed accidental human cause.

There were no firefighters injured during this incident.
