    Current Situation

(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a report of a vegetation fire near the 5400 block of Grassy Trail.  Upon arrival, personnel observed fire burning in the River Bottom but could not access it from that location.  All resources were relocated to Rubidoux Rd and the solar farm where access was made along the “power line” road.  Crews eventually accessed the fire and discovered a ¼ acre fire burning in heavy fuels.  A hose lay was put in place and crews engaged in fire suppression.   The fire involved a large homeless encampment which required extensive work to cool and overhaul.  There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.  All resources have been released.
