(Recent updates are posted at the top of the Current Situation)

The City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a  working vegetation fire between the Eastbound 91 Freeway and the railroad tracks near Cridge Street. The first due units reported that the fire was appoximately .5 acre with a moderate rate of spread in the annual grass crop.  The fire grew to approximately 3 acres prior to extinguishment.  The crews remained on scene to ensure 100% mop up for approximately an hour past initial extinguisment.  The BNSF and Union Pacific rail lines were shut down due to the proximity of the crews working on the fire.  The respective rail systems were re-opened at approximatley 1930 hours.
