Join two UCR public policy students - Nava Majlesi and Maya Prasad - for the Fall 2020 installment of the UCR School of Public Policy Student Spotlight Series.

TALK #1:
"Understanding the Asylum System" by Nava Majlesi
With this upcoming 2020 election, we are well on our way to a fork in the road for immigration policies in America. The future of the asylum system is complex and monumental to the lives of millions of immigrants and their families. In light of this critical issue, UCR public policy student and School of Public Policy Senator, Nava Majlesi, will be presenting an analysis of our current asylum policies and what can be plausibly expected following the election, emphasizing her recent work at an immigration law firm.

"A Guide to Starting Your Own Nonprofit" by Maya Prasad
If you are driven to create positive change, you should consider forming a nonprofit organization. Starting a nonprofit allows you to use your education, skills, and experience to make lasting change within society. Nonprofits are focused on meeting vital, unmet social needs in communities around the world. Maya Prasad, a UCR public policy student and Co-Founder of Thrive Together, will be talking about what steps are needed to form a nonprofit and will speak on her experience creating her own.
