RFSA Good Agricultural Practices & Food Safety Training

If you are a grower, farmer, or gardener looking to produce safe, high quality food for distribution, this in-depth training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Food Safety is for you. On Day 1, attendees will understand how good agricultural practices impact food safety and learn what is needed for a GAP audit. On Day 2 (separate registration required) attendees will begin writing a farm food safety plan that complies with USDA GAP Audit requirements. Taught by certified instructors, successful completion of Day 1 and Day 2 results in a certificate of completion.

Day 1 topics include:

Review of food safety issues and market implications
Overview of USDA GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) audits
Introduction to buyer requirements, third party audits, and food safety regulations
Good agricultural practices, record keeping, and worker training
Manure, compost, and animal management
Production water management
Post-harvest water and packing house sanitation
Safe produce transportation and traceability
Tour of RUSD Food Hub

On Day 2 of the Good Agricultural Practices & Food Safety Training attendees will be introduced to farm food safety plans and work with coaches on developing and drafting their own farm food safety plan. Day 2 attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop to the event. Taught by certified instructors, successful completion of Day 1 and Day 2 results in a certificate of completion.

Lunch and snacks are provided in the workshop fee.
