The City of Riverside is actively seeking volunteers to participate in our Municipal Volunteer Program. This program gives citizens an opportunity to learn about City government and operations, to form mutual partnerships with City staff and to build community relations.
Participants gain valuable work experience and marketable skills by teaming up with various City departments. During fiscal year 2007-2008, approximately 1,090 volunteers participated in this program throughout the City.
Municipal Volunteer Program Requirements
If you are at least 14 years old and are interested in making the City of Riverside a better community, please consider volunteering your time through the Municipal Volunteer Program. Most programs have flexible hours, making it easy for volunteers to contribute their skills while learning first-hand about our local government.
Types of Assignments
The program offers a variety of ways to get involved. In order to better serve the City of Riverside, individuals can volunteer for a one-time project or a long-term assignment. Assignments are varied and offer a wide choice of working conditions.
Some opportunities include working at the Library as a tutor, at the Museum as a docent or at the Police Department as a general service worker helping remove graffiti. Many more opportunities exist. Please use the links listed on the right for detailed information.
In addition to City departments, volunteers are sought for City boards and commissions. The City Clerk's Office processes requests for volunteer service with boards and commissions. Read More . . .
