Wood Streets Lighting Project

The City of Riverside Public Utilities Department is planning to upgrade the current streetlight system in your neighborhood. We expect construction to begin in April 2017. Construction will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Most construction will take place on the street. During construction, parking access along the street may be slightly impacted. The existing landscaping will be protected in place. In the event that the existing landscaping is impacted, it will be restored to its original state. Contractor will coordinate with customer whenever the customer is affected 48-hours in advance. Construction activities will include the installation of new streetlight standards, cable, and conduit. The new installations will meet the City’s roadway lighting requirements. In most cases, a new streetlight will not be placed in the exact same location of an existing streetlight. In general, the spacing between lights will be greater due to increased efficiency. Please refer to the enclosed map which depicts the area that will receive the new streetlights.

The streets involved are:

  • Ramona Drive
  • Larchwood Place
  • Highland Place
  • Beechwood Place
  • Elmwood Court
  • Linwood Place
  • Bandini Avenue
  • Oakwood Place
  • Edgewood Place
  • Rosewood Place
  • Chapman Place
  • Alden Road

These streets are bounded by Magnolia Avenue, Ramona Drive, Palm Avenue and Jurupa Avenue. For more detailed project information go to www.RiversidePublicUtilities.com/WoodStreets.

Riverside Public Utilities values safety, efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction. We designed a new streetlight system that maintains the historical integrity of the existing 90-year-old system whose design was approved by the City’s Cultural Heritage Board, and also uses the latest LED technology for energy efficiency and long service life. In addition, the new streetlight fixtures will improve street lighting levels which will serve to improve security in your neighborhood.
