| The North Riverside Water Project is an example of the City of
Riverside's commitment to clean up water supply contaminants and
ensure a plentiful supply of high-quality water to our customers.
It was completed in June 2003. |
 |
Project planning began in 1998 when Lockheed Martin
Corporation agreed to fund the installation of the pipeline system
($8.5 million) as part of an agreement with Riverside to remove
trichloroethylene (TCE) from its water supplies. In 2001, a $4.15
million settlement was reached with various fertilizer manufacturers,
funding the construction and operation of the Garner B and Palmyrita
treatment plants, for removing dibromochloropropane (DBCP), with
an additional $1 million committed to fund a transmission line
to deliver water from four refurbished wells to the new treatment
plants.
The City of Riverside continues to take a proactive approach
to providing high quality water to our customers and invites
you to celebrate our progress with us.
