RPU CREWS RESPOND QUICKLY TO STORM-RELATED OUTAGES, RESTORE POWER TO THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS

Riverside, Calif. – A series of isolated storms caused power outages and severe flooding in Riverside on Sunday. In response, Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) electric crews worked through the night to restore power to thousands of customers while water crews patrolled local canals for blockages.

The storms brought high winds and intense rain, causing flooding and tree damage that affected overhead power lines. Riverside’s Canyon Crest and downtown areas were hit particularly hard.

“Around 7,500 of our customers lost power due to the storms,” said RPU General Manager Girish Balachandran, “We cannot thank our field crews enough for their tireless effort to restore power and keep the canals open.”

RPU crews restored power to all customers by 10:45 a.m. this morning.
