RIVERSIDE CITY COUNCIL VOTES TO CONTINUE WATER CONSERVATION SURCHARGE

4/23/2014

Riverside, Calif. – In a unanimous vote last night, the Riverside City Council has agreed to extend Riverside Public Utilities’ (RPU) 1.5 percent water conservation surcharge through 2024.

The charge, which amounts to less than 70 cents per month for an average residential water customer, helps to fund the development, implementation, and management of conservation rebate programs that RPU offers.

It also helps to fund research and projects that support the utility’s Water Supply Plan and water independence, allowing RPU to maintain its high quality service commitments while retaining lower water rates.
