FREE SHADE TREE, SPRINKLER NOZZLES COUPONS AVAILABLE FOR RIVERSIDE PUBLIC UTILITIES' CUSTOMERS

Riverside, Calif. – As clear skies and warming weather mark the return of spring to Southern California, the beginning of March also kicks off the return of two popular energy and water conservation coupon programs for Riverside Public Utilities’ (RPU) customers.

For 12 years, RPU customers have received a FREE Shade Tree Coupon on the back of their March utility bills. And simply by taking it to a participating Riverside retailer, customers can redeem it for one, free, qualifying shade tree (up to $25 in value). The popular program has provided more than 117,000 free shade trees that have helped to beautify the community and provided energy savings by offsetting summer cooling costs.

Customers will have until June 30 to redeem this year’s tree coupon at one of the following retailers only: Louie’s Nursery, 16310 Porter Ave.; Parkview Nursery, 4377 Chicago Ave.; or Parkview Nursery, 3841 Jackson St.

The Utility’s E-bill (paperless) customers may request a Free Shade Tree coupon by logging in at www.RiversidePublicUtilities.com/ebilltree

March also begins the city-wide water conservation program at www.FreeSprinklerNozzles.com Riverside water customers (either those served by RPU or Western Municipal Water District) can log on to the website through June 30 to receive a voucher good for a free set of Toro Precision Series sprinkler nozzles that can reduce outdoor water use by up to 30% per nozzle.

To date, more than 115,000 of these water-efficient sprinkler nozzles have been supplied to Riverside customers that provide annual water savings of more than 820 million gallons. Vouchers will be redeemable at participating irrigation supply stores only, and customers must redeem their vouchers within 30 days of receipt.
