- A Customer-Generator is defined as: a residential, small commercial, commercial, industrial, or agricultural customer who uses a solar (photovoltaic) or wind turbine electrical generating facility, or hybrid system of both, with a capacity of not more than 1,000 kilowatts, that is located on the customer's premises, is interconnected and operates in parallel with the Utility's transmission and distribution facilities, and is intended primarily to offset part or all of the customer's own electrical requirements on the premises.

- If you install a photovoltaic system within the City of Riverside service area, you will need to get building permits from the City of Riverside Building Division at (951) 826-5697.

Public Utilities Energy Delivery Engineering Division must approve the interconnection schematic and review the technical specifications on the inverter to verify that it meets safety requirements.

Applicants are required to sign and submit two (2) ORIGINAL SIGNED COPIES of the complete Net Metering Energy Interconnection Agreement to RPU.

Before authorizing to parallel to the grid, successful parallel and shutdown tests must be verified by Riverside Public Utilities.
