Since 1999, Riverside Public Utilities has offered
schools in the City of the Riverside the chance to receive free
bottles of water to use as a fundraising opportunity.
Initially, all public, private and continuation high schools
were eligible to participate. Since 2002, we have also made this
program available to middle schools.

|
Each school receives a bottle of water per student for grades
7-12 rounded to the case, with smaller schools receiving a minimum
of 10 cases. Schools can then sell the water at a variety of
events to raise funds for sports teams, school organizations,
events and more.
To date, the program has provided more than 222,000 bottles
of water to schools. Money raised from water sales have funded
school dances and field trips, bought school uniforms for cheerleading
and sports teams, and even been used to purchase clay for the
infield of a baseball diamond. Schools have also used the water
to support staff and volunteers at events.
Only High Schools and Middle Schools in the City of Riverside
are eligible. Schools that have received water in the past must
fill out the
"How We Used our Water in 2007" form.
The additional How
We Used Our Water Form (PDF) needs to be submitted by each school
along with their Participation Form (PDF), ONLY if they've received
water in the prior year.

Bottled Water Label Art Contest |
|
As with past programs, the 2008 Splash Into Cash program will
include a Bottled Water Art Contest. High school students are
invited to participate in this contest. The Utility will market
this contest through the schools' art teachers and give presentations
to generate further interest in the contest and the Utilities'
program.
