| School Electricity Presentations |
|
|
 |
Students experience three hours of fun and excitement
as they learn to move like electrical current, see electricity
generated by a Van De Graaff generator, observe the difference
in energy usage between a regular and an energy-saving light bulb,
and test materials in a real working circuit they have built themselves. |
| The presentation correlates with the
California State Science Standards for the fourth grade level,
and has been approved for classroom use by both Riverside and Alvord
Unified School Districts. All fourth grade teachers in our service
area are encouraged to call for their FREE presentation. |
|
 |
More than one million students and teachers
have seen the show, which received the National Freedom's Foundation
award for community service in 1986. It was also featured in the
1993 television special produced by National Geographic entitled
The Power of Water. |
| Schools are selected on a rotating basis to receive
a professional theater performance. "The Adventures of the
California Hydroforce" takes a lighthearted look at water
conservation. All first through third grade teachers in our service
area are encouraged to call for their FREE presentation. |
|
 |
Every elementary teacher in our service area, and
every middle and high school science teacher, has the opportunity
to apply to win a water education mini-grant for up to $500 in
funding for classroom projects related to water. |
|
 |
We provide judging and prizes for School District
Science Fairs within our service area. Each year, two $100 U.S.
savings bonds per school district are awarded for electric-related,
and two for water-related projects, in grades 4-12. |
