Since 1999, RPU customers have saved kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity by utilizing our energy saving rebate programs. This kWh savings is equivalent to taking cars off the road and has prevented the need for power plants to be built, saving about $.

Solar generation projects continue to grow in Riverside. There are currently 431.76 kW of residential, 81.86 kW of commercial, and 672.14 kW of Utilities funded solar projects producing 1185.76 kW of clean energy every day.

At Riverside Public Utilities, we’re doing our part to help make Riverside a greener place to live by committing ourselves to supporting renewable and environmentally friendly electric power sources.

Green Power, is environmentally friendly electricity that is generated from renewable resources such as wind, sun, and water. Power produced by these types of generation sources is cleaner than most coal, natural gas, and nuclear power generation facilities.

Riverside Public Utilities realizes the important role that renewable energy technologies will play in our future. As the State of California is asking municipal utilities like ours to increase their renewable energy portfolio to 20 percent of their total power mix by 2010, we are looking to surpass that goal.
