The City of Riverside Public Utilities is committed to supporting
and building alternative methods of generating power through renewable
resources.
Installation of three 10-kilowatt photovoltaic generation
stations at Riverside's Hunt Park, Islander Park and Shamel Park
provides clean solar power so visitors and residents can enjoy
a day of good, clean family fun. Entirely paid for through public
benefits funds, this project is just one of the ways the utility
sustains the community with locally generated renewable energy,
assuring our power needs are met today and in the future.
- 10-kilowatt system, consisting of 64 panels of 155-watts
output each.
- Provides power primarily to swimming pool filtration
motors in each park.
- Master metering program allows performance
to be monitored at all times.
- Together, the three PV systems
will displace 4.38 million lbs. of carbon dioxide; 12,700 lbs.
of nitrogen oxide; and 7,625 lbs. of sulfur dioxide over their
25 year life spans.
- Environmentally friendly, quiet, and a
clean source of renewable power.
- Paid for entirely by public
benefits funds.
