Riverside's Green Power Premium is a voluntary program available to all Riverside Public Utilities' electric customers who are interested in helping the City achieve, and surpass its goals for clean and green renewable energy resources.
RPU is committed to a Clean and Green Riverside! Every day we are working toward obtaining Green Power which comes from renewable energy resources such as wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass power plants.
By utilizing these cleaner energy resources, we can help reduce the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas.
By participating in the voluntary Green Power Premium program, you will directly help support the increased development and purchases of renewable energy resources for the City of Riverside.
Customers who opt into this voluntary program agree to contribute an additional two cents ($0.02) per kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity used, at their current per kWh rate.
Funds raised through this program will go directly toward the purchase of renewable energy resources for the City of Riverside.
As an example, a residential customer whose typical monthly energy use is 600 kWh (or approximately $73 per month) would pay an additional $12 per month in Green Power Premium (or $85 total).
Individual customer costs will vary. So, to find out what your typical Green Power Premium might be, take your monthly bill and multiply it by $0.02 (kWh usage X $0.02).
Green Power Premium charges will appear on your Utility bill within 2 billing cycles.
