The City of Riverside is committed to supporting and building
alternative methods of generating power through renewable resources.
An example is the 81-kilowatt Photovoltaic (solar) Generating Station
at the Indiana Avenue low-income Apartments. This facility benefits
low-income residents and the rest of the City. Entirely paid for
through public benefit funds, this project is just one of the ways
the City provides the community with renewable energy, assuring
our power needs are met today and in the future.

- Over its 25-year life span,
based on peak power ratings. Displaces;
- 3,861,000 lbs. of carbon
dioxide
- 9,750 lbs. of nitrous oxides
- 31,200 lbs. of sulfur
dioxide
- According to the U.S. Government’s Energy Information
Administration, one fourth of the air pollution produced by
burning fossil fuels is a by-product of electric power production.
