All construction activity within the City of Riverside is required to comply with best management practices (BMPs) for site maintenance regarding stormwater pollution. Stormwater-related BMPs minimize site issues with erosion, dust nuisances and sediment transport. Examples of these BMPs include, but are not limited to: site coverage.
All projects within the City of Riverside that disturb at least an acre of dirt must have evidence of approval or waiver for construction activities by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB). Projects that do not meet and maintain compliance with the SWRCB’s permit for construction activities may be required to stop work on site until State permit coverage is restored.
The State Board currently is revising the General Permit for Discharges of Storm Water Associated with Construction Activity.
