Training to become a Youth Court Volunteer
Riverside Youth Court has been developed as a part of the City of Riverside’s Juvenile Justice System. These are real cases, where juveniles have admitted the misdemeanor offense, but have chosen to be judged by their peers in determining the consequences.
Youth Court is open to all Riverside youth, ages 12-17 and 18 year olds still attending high school. Youth Court participants will learn about a respondent’s offense and will select a suitable disposition that is designed to hold the youth accountable for his/her actions and to encourage future compliance with the law.
As a youth court volunteer, you'll be able to participate in the program year round. Youth Court is held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. A mandatory training for the spring/summer session will be held on February 20, 2010. Volunteers will receive three hours of community service for each youth court session they attend and 6 hours of community service for the training. Please contact the Youth Court Coordinator at (951) 353-7683 or (951) 353-7690.
Please complete the application below to reserve a seat at the training session. Click here to download the PDF permission form. Complete the permission form, have your parent sign it, and bring it with you to court.
Seating is limited to the first 100 applicants and online registration is required to hold your seat. A confirmation letter will be sent to applicants who have been accepted. Walk-ins are strongly discouraged for the upcoming session.
The Riverside Youth Court depends on volunteers.
You can participate as a juror, bailiff, court clerk and attorney. If you would like to be involved
