Fatal Traffic Collision Single Vehicle: File P07-067853

Riverside, Ca- On May 4, 2007, at 7:44 pm, officers of the Riverside Police Department responded to a major injury traffic collision involving a single vehicle carrying four males. The vehicle was traveling S/B Brockton Ave. approaching Ramona Dr. and for unknown reasons drifted to the right and struck the curb. The vehicle continued S/B on Brockton and struck a traffic signal, knocking it down. The vehicle continued S/B and struck a fire hydrant on the other side of the intersection.

The Riverside Fire Department was able to remove the males from the vehicle and treated them at scene, then transport all to local hospitals.

The right front passenger identified as 20 year-old Sean Brandriff of the City of Orange and the right rear passenger identified as 18 year-old Chris Archer of Riverside were transported to Riverside Community Hospital in very critical condition.

The left rear passenger identified as 19 year-old Patrick Morales of Corona was transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The driver of the vehicle identified as 22 year-old Austin Romero of Riverside was also transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries and subsequently cleared for release. He was arrested for felony Driving Under the Influence and booked into the Riverside County Jail.

The Riverside Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and the collision is under investigation.

Update: According to a release by the Riverside County Coroner's Office, Sean Brandriff died from his injuries on May 6, 2007 at approximately 5:40 p.m. at Riverside Community Hospital.
