Street racing incident leaves four critically injured
Riverside, Ca- On Sunday, February 18, 2007, at about 2300 hours, Riverside Police officers responded
to a reported crash in the area of Tyler and Eureka. The initial investigation revealed that a 16-year-old minor
was driving a Honda Accord with seven other minors in the car; all are from the Riverside area. Witnesses stated
the Honda was racing another car at about 100 miles per hour when it lost control and struck a cement light
standard. Four of the subjects are in critical condition and two of them are on life support. Three of the passengers
left the scene before police arrived.
The driver is a 16-year-old and was booked into Juvenile Hall for a
felony violation of illegal street racing. Additional charges may be added pending the condition of the injured
persons.
The accident was investigated by the Riverside Police Department

UPDATE: One of the crash victims, a 14-year-old Hispanic male, died
of his injuries at 7:55 a.m., Monday, February 19, at Riverside Community Hospital.
