Officer Involved Shooting

Riverside, Ca- An adult male subject pulled over for a traffic stop Thursday morning fought with Riverside Police officers before he was fatally shot.

A Riverside Police officer pulled over a red 1997 Toyota Corolla in the 5800-block of Babb Avenue, near the corner with Crest Avenue, at 10:17 a.m. A second officer arrived a few minutes later. The suspect was out of his car when he began fighting the officers. During the physical altercation shots were fired by police. Medical assistance was immediately summoned. The suspect, described in his early thirties, was transported by AMR ambulance to Parkview Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:15 a.m., October 19, 2006.

The incident is in the early stages of investigation.
