Traffic collision – La Cadena at Palmyrita
Riverside, Ca- Two occupants of a car that crashed into a trash truck Tuesday afternoon were transported to area
hospitals with severe but non-life-threatening injuries. The collision occurred at the corner of East La Cadena Drive at
Palmyrita Avenue at 2:05 p.m.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a black 1975 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling northbound on La Cadena at a high
rate of speed when it struck the left rear wheels of the recently unloaded trash truck, a White GMC operated by Athens
Services Inc. The truck driver, a 55-year-old Moreno Valley man, was uninjured.
The Camaro left skid marks of approximately 170 feet before impact. Speedometer residue indicated the vehicle was still
traveling at 58 miles per hour when it struck the truck with such force that the truck was tipped onto two wheels. The
two occupants of the Camaro did not appear to have been wearing seat belts. The driver, a 22-year-old male from Rialto,
was transported to Riverside Community Hospital. His more severely injured passenger, a 27-year-old male, also from
Rialto, was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
The investigation continues.
