Fatal Injury Traffic Collision – Vehicle vs. Pedestrian

Riverside, Ca- On May 13, 2006, at 3:19pm, 51-year-old Jaime Balderas of Moreno Valley was driving his big rig truck and trailer from the 60-freeway east off ramp to southbound Main Street. He did not see 44-year-old Yvonne Roosa who was walking east across Main Street in the east-west crosswalk. Ms. Roosa was struck by the left front of the truck and dragged under it. Mr. Balderas realized that he had run over something and was able to stop his truck a short distance later.

Riverside Fire and Police were called to the scene by Mr. Balderas. They found the female pedestrian had sustained major head and body trauma injuries that were fatal and she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the Riverside Police Department’s (M.A.I.T.) Major Accident Investigation Team responded and the collision is under investigation. Anyone with further information can contact Detective Joe Avila at (951) 826-5577.
